PCB File Checklist
Ensure your PCB design files are complete before fabrication — reduce CAM questions and speed up order approval.
Gerber • Excellon Drill • Outline/Milling • Stack-up Notes
Why File Completeness Matters
- Complete Layer Set: Copper, drill, soldermask, silkscreen, outline
- PTH / NPTH Separation: Helps avoid drill interpretation errors
- Stack-up Notes: Required for multilayer PCB fabrication
- Outline File: One clear board outline and milling definition
Clear files mean fewer email delays and faster CAM release.
Gerber Layers & Drill Stack Example
Submit Gerber X2 preferred, RS-274X acceptable. Include drill, outline, and layer stack notes for multilayer boards.
Submit Gerber files, Excellon drill files, and one clear outline layer. Include stack-up notes for multilayer boards.
1-Layer PCB Files
- Top copper
- Drill file (if slots or NPTH exist)
- Board outline / milling
- Top soldermask (optional)
- Top silkscreen (optional)
- Readme or fabrication note (optional)
2-Layer PCB Files
- Top copper
- Bottom copper
- PTH / NPTH drill files preferred
- Board outline / milling
- Top / bottom soldermask (optional if needed)
- Top / bottom silkscreen (optional)
- Readme or fabrication note (optional)
Multilayer PCB Files
- Top copper and bottom copper
- All internal copper layers
- PTH / NPTH drill files
- Board outline / milling
- Stack-up notes (required)
- Readme or fabrication note (optional)
Include blind / buried via notes and impedance requirements when applicable.
